Dukester X - Announcements - Dukester X Version 1.6 Available Addfaz - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 12:50 am Post subject: Dukester X Version 1.6 Available
An update is now available for Dukester X client. Version 1.6.
This release mainly addresses the master server issues, and misc bug and UI fixes. Con file checking has been removed. Options screen has also been improved.
A Firewall testing tool has also been added. You can find it in the main options or via the /checkfirewall console command.
Please report any bugs.
Enjoy. Poda - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 1:05 am Post subject:
Even though this is just probably aesthetic at this point, I think you should change Rancidmeat to say xDuke and JFDuke to say EDuke32. Poda - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 1:09 am Post subject:
Another bug is when you get the message you are blocked from a server for whatever reason, when you click ok, it wants to create another window as if you decided to host yourself instead... To test, make a room that allows only 1 player. Then, try to join your own room. You will see what I mean. Poda - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 4:03 am Post subject:
Another issue is when you launch games, it seems to make some "empty" map files for built-in maps like "E1L1 - Hollywood Holocaust", no extension. Also, sometimes due to a crash, a user map gets left in your DukesterX directory, so it would probably be best to just not copy the map over to begin with and run it from each person's map directory (with quotes around the directory). A related error to the being blocked one is when you cancel trying to connect to someone. It still gives you the connection error like 10 seconds later. Poda - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 6:59 am Post subject:
Another one I just remembered. Sometimes when you refresh the server list, it seems to get hung up and show 0 games or less than are actually there. You keep refreshing it and you eventually get all the games there. Poda - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 7:22 am Post subject:
Boy, they just keep coming to me. It would be cool to see the "Ready" button made functional. Maybe next to each players name and IP you could put a Y or N to indicate if they have it checked. Alternatively, the Ready button could be removed altogether. Poda - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 7:24 am Post subject:
Here is something else that might be useful. On each launch of the game, terminate any active Duke processes. Sometimes, when the game doesn't connect up, one person may wait longer than the other and the host decides to relaunch it before you get a chance to close the old one. This would help with that. Some minor issues with the built-in map names.
Episode 1 is L.A. Meltdown.
E1L3 is Death Row.
E2L4 is Fusion Station.
E4L2 is Duke-Burger.
E4L8 is XXX-Stacy. Ozzie - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 9:27 pm Post subject: Dukester X Version 1.6 Available
Hi everybody !!
tried it today in DM and it works fine
Thanx a lot ! [FMJ]Replica - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 10:15 pm Post subject: broke it
I broke it! It has not worked propelly yet for me this is my issue,
I had to close it then start it again and firewall test was ok.
But it still says there are 2 master servers when there is only 1.
It didn't list any of the games.
But I could make public ok as you can see in video and said 1 master.
Plus I deleted registry fazersoft bit for Dukesterx still same prob. I even tryed it with affinity set to 1 cpu.
Might try again don't know what happening yet. Addfaz - Mon 06 Apr, 2009 10:57 pm Post subject:

addfaz! same registry values and such?
need to know for my hackish configurator so that I can update pronto.
James [FMJ]Replica - Wed 08 Apr, 2009 12:08 am Post subject:
I fixed it.
Since I used to have dxserver i had to also delete these reg values too not just dukesterx.
maybe conflicted.
so deleting the old reg values for old dxserver fixed it.
So just having the dukesterx registry for client works fine Addfaz - Wed 08 Apr, 2009 12:39 am Post subject:
No changed registry entries for this release.
Very curious Replica, I'll have to try that with the old DXServer installed. William Gee - Wed 08 Apr, 2009 2:50 am Post subject:
He need to add Eduke32 to the list of ports. And maybe Xduke like in YANG. |if3|355 - Wed 08 Apr, 2009 10:43 pm Post subject:
My Configurator Is now up to date!
Read the README for more info.
For those who have an older version of my configurator: It'll still work doing the updates, but you may run into some minor difficulties. <--- It'll still download the updates, but it may crash afterwards. If this is the case, don't fret . Just a minor annoyance.
Enjoy!

well, lifeless, I must say we are the highly creative people, aren't we.... you calling your piece of software the "configurator" and I call my piece the "installer", but they are for the same game for different platforms. lol |if3|355 - Thu 09 Apr, 2009 7:01 am Post subject:
lol yeah!
vb6 is horrendous. <-- IE* sucks, no dictionaries. (im at my girlfriends ) mik3ca - Thu 09 Apr, 2009 11:53 pm Post subject:
Guess what. I upgraded my installer in the awkwardish fashion. LOL. now I made it with VB3! this means that only one extra DLL file is required instead of a suite of useless DLL files. Plus the download size will be smaller too.
Oh, and did I mention that I managed to get Windows 3.1 working in a DOS EMULATOR?
This means that DNO could very well have indirect compatibility with linux. ALI-GUN - Fri 10 Apr, 2009 7:55 pm Post subject:

Impressive, the next step would be - to get Bill Gates to work for you |if3|355 - Fri 10 Apr, 2009 9:52 pm Post subject:

Send him to the gallows for injecting this poison into our technological industry!

yep. LOL. I like how you precede awesome with pathetically. LOL. I'm trying to get EVERYONE to be able to play duke nukem with everyone, no matter what system they use. Heck, it would be interesting to see someone in straight dos play duke nukem against someone with windows 3.1 against someone with linux against someone with windows XP. skydro - Sat 11 Apr, 2009 2:03 am Post subject:
If you are in DOS, how could you launch the games through your website? Is there tools capable enough browsing your website in DOS?
I don't know. I wouldn't play DNO because I like the added features that xDuke and Eduke32 have. Jaks - Sat 11 Apr, 2009 12:35 pm Post subject:
waiting for 1.6.1. mik3ca - Sat 11 Apr, 2009 8:30 pm Post subject:

It is possible for me to make the game work in straight dos where the arachne browser loads up the page, and then when a download is selected, the game is launched, but the disadvantage to this is that dos is not a multitasking system like windows is, so you can't browse other sites while you are waiting for the game to start.
Also, most users do not use DOS mode. If they use DOS, it would be a dosbox in windows. franpa - Tue 14 Apr, 2009 3:55 pm Post subject:
I'm waiting for all currently reported bugs/issues to be fixed before I bother trying it out. Until then, YANG will serve me well
