Hi,
Problem:
ive set up dukesterx with the help off |if3|355's tutorials.
1) ive forwarded the TCP/UDP ports on my router. if i check this with |if3|355's program it still gives an error but with the program from the site where |if3|355 refers to it does show the ports are open.
my first issue is that if your behind a router and you have 2 pcs how can you forward the ports for both? on 1 pc the ports are forwarded but on the other there not because apparently this isnt possible (in an easy way) so this is confusing.
2) ive set up dukesterx using the tutorial.
3) i can host a game, i can search for games (and find games) from others and in my own LAN
4)if i try to launch a game i get a dosbox very very very briefly and thats it. i get this on both pcs and with different programs (ive tried YANG also with the same results)
i cant post any screens because the dosbox vanishes instantly.
this probably indicates that its my fault im getting this error bacause its a problem on my 2 pcs and on different programs
with regards |

Hey orphyx,
According to past experience, I think that DX may not incorrectly report when ports are forwarded.
Anyway, if you want to play an online game with both PCs, simply use unique ports for each PC. You can change these ports in Dukester X and YANG.
If dosbox vanishes immediately, and you're using xDuke, then maybe check that xDuke isn't located in a very long path (which may cause issues). Here's an example for a long path:
C:\My Games\My Action Games\My First Person Shooter Games\Duke Nukem 3D\xDuke
* I've just noticed that you've also posted here: http://forums.dukesterx.net/viewtopic.php?p=7724
Not sure how relevant, but maybe these threads should be merged. |

orphyx, something is wrong with your networking, you probably need to port forward. Read the guide in my signature for help on how to do that. It's a tutorial, so it'll take you time to figure out how to set shit up properly .
Give yourself about an hour or two to set it up, but once you're done, you'll be happy .
